Nearly 61, about to be unemployed again.

I’m nearing my 61st birthday, and I just lost my job working in Amazon stores in Berlin. It’s time for a new plan for the year. I’ll get unemployment payments from March for maybe 18 months. Unfortunately it’s not enough to pay all the bills. So I really need to find some sort of job to be able to survive the next few years. It’s now been 5 years since I last worked in IT, so I’m not very optimistic.

I’m been pondering some options. As far as programming is concerned, I’d like to be able to get a job and earn some decent money for the next few years. I’d like to set myself up for success.

My basic plan is to complete as many iOS tutorials and read as many helpful blog posts as I can each day, every day. Then eventually write many iOS tutorials in this blog and write many iOS Apps. I told my girlfriend about the plan, she wasn’t impressed. Her opinion is that I should consider software development as a hobby and wait until I retire.
